What is a Remanufactured Longblock?
Remanufactured Lonblocks are replacement engines that have been remanufactured using a combination of existing or "Core" blocks, heads, crankshaft and connecting rods. The difference between "Rebuilt" and "Remanufactured" is that rebuilds are done using your existing engine. Remanufactured Longblocks are built much the same as new Longblocks in that they use a typical production process with spot checking, quality control, etc.
When it comes time to replace your marine long block engine, knowing the year of the existing engine is critical. There are a couple of ways to determine this information. First is by checking the engine block casting code. If you don't know your casting number you can use the following link to see where this is located. Block Casting Number
