There are various changes that were made on the 4.3L engine throughout the years. Listed below is a link that will assist you in choosing the correct longblock for you application.Technical Tips. This engine is a replacement for MerCruiser, OMC, and Volvo applications. Cylinder block incorporates dual flat response knock sensor bosses and revised bolt pattern for new front cover. Water pump eliminates internal bypass. 58X crankshaft position encoder with digital sensor ensures accurate ignition timing throughout the operating range.

NOTE 1: This engine includes the cast aluminum timing chain cover, Valve covers, Oil pan, Water pump, Crankshaft Position Sensor.

NOTE 2: 1996-2007 MPI application requires an updated front cover kit. PN: 105097.
