Mercruiser Exhaust Manifold Torqueing Sequence
Rodger,
Bolt torque should be reset after initial startup, while the engine is still warm. Refer to your original manufacturer’s engine service manual for specific torque settings. As a rule of thumb we suggest between 20 – 25 Lb-Ft for 3/8 fasteners. HOWEVER THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER WHEN TORQUING MARINE EXHAUST PRODUCTS IS TO PERFORM IN A UNIFORM PATTERN IN ABOUT 2-3 SEPARATE SEQUENCES. 1) 10 LB-FT FOLLOWED BY GOING ON UP THEN FOLLOWED BY TAKING THE TORQUE UP TO THE FINAL RATING. THE TORQUE SHOULD THEN BE CHECKED AFTER RUNNING THE ENGINE FOR 30 MINUTES THEN AGAIN AFTER 20 HOURS.

Rodger,
Â
I certainly understand, I just want to make sure I don’t drop the ball on my end getting you the information you requested. We seem to have emails disappear in that black hole of emails every now and again rather than making it to recipient.
Â
In any regards you have a Merry Christmas and let me know if you have any other questions.

Rodger,
Â
OK this looks to be the standard Mercruiser 4″ outlet exhaust with the 6 inch spacer. Here are a couple of options for you, select the links below to see pricing and details;

Taking the pics is easy since the engine is out of the boat. It’s a 4 inch thru hull
set up, 6 inch spacer, 4 inch riser.
Thanks Rodger

Thanks for following up. I’m replacing those heavy steel Merc manifolds and risers with 6 inch extensions. I wanna buy
something lighter aluminium style/kind. You can search all day on the internet for it but I haven’t made a decision on
what kind. What info do you need from me to assist in find these darn things? I’m not looking for all out speed/performance
but lighter and better than what I currently have. Am I asking for too much? Are you laughing at me yet?
Thanks Rodger

Â
Rodger,
Â
Thanks for your inquiry and the opportunity at earning your business. Unfortunately there is no cast 6″ spacer available for the Thumper exhaust systems. You would either have ot go with the Powerflow design which runs $2200 for the complete set (see attached picture) or you can alternatly go with eitehr of the links below. You can add your selected product(s) to your shopping cart and the shipping estimator located at the bottom of the shopping cart page will give you a shipping cost based on your specific postal code. Let me know if you need any further technical information or help placing your order. In either case I will be glad to assist!
