Marine Lonblocks versus Marine Shortblocks
Richard,
Short blocks are no longer offered because they are simply not cost effective. Along with this they cannot be tested as a complete engine assembly and in the instances bad heads are installed onto them it’s simply too difficult to sort out the warranty responsibility.
Regarding options I would recommend the remanufactured Marine longblocks as these are specifically built to marine standards. I was the engineering manager for the exhaust & cooling division at Mercruiser for 10 years so I have quite a lot of experience with the engines.

Where can I get a marine grade short block 260hp min. replacement for my 1984 mercury (chevy 350) carb. intake motor?
If i go long are all your offerings NEW blocks and are they high in Nickel content like the older #######010 blocks?
Do your blocks use ARP bolts and such?
I would also want a forged crank,, yours?
Anything special about your camshaft or lifters to help my decission making?
