1988 Wellcraft Monte Carlo 28′ Mercruiser Bravo 1 Sterndrive Replacement

Mike,

Thanks for your inquiry and the opportunity at earning your business. Back in 1988 Mercruiser only made two ratio’s 1.36 and 1.50, 90% of them were the 1.50. Based on the boat length and not knowing what engine is in front of it I would say the highest probability would be 1.50:1. Let me know if you need any further technical information or help placing your order. In either case I will be glad to assist!

Dear sirs: I own a 1988 Wellcraft Monte Carlo 28′ cruiser that I bought 3 years ago. The starboard sterndrive has totally died. I am told by the marina that it is a Bravo 1 Standard Rotation. I can’t find any paperwork for these drives and I assume they are the original drives. I cut thru some paint, did a bit of sanding and just barely made out these numbers..J 7657. I am at a loss for any other info. I have the Hull ID numbers from the year the boat was built. How do I go about finding a new or re-manufactured drive? How do I know what the gear ratio is? (I counted 17 teeth on the main shaft.) Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Its almost boating season here in the Carolinas and I want to get back out on the salt again.. Thank you, Michael
