There are various changes that were made on the 5.7L engine throughout the years. Listed below is a link that will assist you in choosing the correct longblock for you application. Technical Tips. This pre-Vortec service longblock comes complete with all associated tin-ware. The engine does not include an intake, flywheel, balancer, or water pump. Disregard any of these components on the illustration.

It has a plastic timing cover which may require a special harmonic balancer. If your existing engine has a metal timing cover you must order Harmonic Balancer # 88960604 (Link to Balancer) or you must have a timing light with digital advance.
